The importance of government support for the agricultural and irrigation sector in Iraq.

The exhibition is fully supported by the Council of Ministers and the government's interest in this vital sector through the Council of Ministers' Advisory Body, which has laid the scientific foundation for its programs and the development of its projects through the membership of the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources to stop the decline in the agricultural sector to achieve a fundamental renaissance in agriculture using technologies and agricultural requirements and mechanization that enable it to exploit most of the arable lands and increase the efficiency of water resources use to achieve better rates of food integration and with the help of many advanced countries agriculturally.

Government support for the agricultural and irrigation sector

  1. Enhancing agricultural production and achieving food security by providing basic agricultural inputs at subsidized prices.

  2. Developing agricultural infrastructure such as irrigation and drainage networks and the construction of dams.

  3. Supporting farmers financially through soft loans and grants to improve their income and the continuity of their activity.

  4. Encouraging investment in the agricultural sector and attracting capital.

  5. Creating new job opportunities in rural and agricultural areas.

  6. Providing technical and technological support to farmers to improve production efficiency.

  • A sum of 2 trillion Iraqi dinars has been allocated for the reconstruction and development of projects in all governorates, which may include agricultural and irrigation projects.

  • A sum of 38,227,841,258,000 Iraqi dinars (about 38 trillion dinars) has been allocated for local investment projects, which may include projects in the agricultural and irrigation sector.

  • However, no specific amounts have been mentioned exclusively allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture to support the agricultural and irrigation sector in the available sources. The support seems to come within a broader framework of investment and development projects in the general budget of the state.
